Membership Group
The goal of the Membership Group is to increase the size of Heartland Angels’ membership. There are three categories of Members: Accredited, Associate and Student. The characteristics of each category are found on Heartland’s website.
The nature of the activities of Heartland naturally leads itself to a certain type of approach towards getting new members.
Individuals who are candidates for membership will be, by the nature of the definition of eligibility, financially successful personally or because of their family history. This financial eligibility applies to all three categories.
Financial success comes from one’s personal activities as part of a start-up or rapidly growing company that was successful (and they cashed out because they had stock or stock options) or from functioning at a high level within a successful company (e.g., as an Executive Vice-President of Motorola) that is a public company or a privately held company.
Most people who are candidates for membership are often just “one degree of separation” from someone you know or someone you meet in a situation that is outside your normal path. Since people almost never tell you of their interest in Heartland or what it does, you have to find out by asking them.
